Katja
Katja Animal Health Technician

Katja is a certified veterinary technician (CVT) who graduated from Penn Foster College, earning her Veterinary Technician degree in 2022. She subsequently completed her VTNE certification in 2023 and is currently pursuing a program in Clinical Veterinary Management (CVMP), which she expects to complete by 2025.

From a young age, Katja was surrounded by animals. Being the daughter of an oncologist-internist, she often accompanied her father on hospital rounds, which sparked her interest in the medical field. Although she initially dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, her passion for horses and dressage competition led her to follow her heart and dedicate herself to horse training before returning to her original vocation in veterinary care.

She is particularly interested in pathology, a specialty that inspires her with its challenges and discoveries. What she loves most about her work is collaborating with her team and providing exceptional service to both clients and their pets.

Katja has a big heart and loves rescuing others, especially animals! She shares her life with many companions:

  • Adèle: a 10-year-old Selle Français mare from Quebec
  • Rubio: a 13-year-old Labrador mix rescued in Malaga, Spain
  • Yogi: a 2-year-old Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix rescued in Quebec
  • Palma: a "coconut retriever" mix rescued from the island of Saint-Martin in the Caribbean
  • Maarten: a 4-year-old domestic short-haired cat rescued in Quebec
  • Montiloup: a 13-year-old domestic short-haired cat rescued in Quebec
  • Dino: an Uromastyx lizard
  • And a beautiful blue fish

Outside of work, Katja practices yoga, competes in salsa dancing, enjoys studying and reading, and finds joy in playing chess. She is also a polyglot, fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish, German, and French, with basic knowledge of Armenian and Portuguese!
